Translation Services
Do you translate legal documents such as birth certificates, marriage certificates and diplomas?
Yes. These types of documents normally require translator certification and/or notarization to be accepted by the courts or authorities. Global provides both certified and notarized translations, primarily for use in Canada. Please provide us with your original document or a certified true copy of it. For more information, please refer to Translation for Personal.

What is your turnaround time?
Our typical translation process consists of multiple steps (see QAP for Translation Projects) including editing (if elected) and proofreading. Turnaround time depends on a number of factors: the language combination, length and complexity of your project, our translators' schedule and the availability of the client to provide timely clarification and feedback.
We use only human translators. On average, the translation rate is within the range of 1,500-2,000 source words per working day.
We estimate turnaround time based on your project requirements. For urgent deadlines, please contact us to discuss your requirements.

Will I be dealing directly with the translator?
No. To streamline communication, our project manager will be your point of contact regarding your translation project. He/she will contact you for project requirements, queries clarification, terminology verification, progress reporting, feedback solicitation and other project related business. If necessary, he/she will also consult with your subject matter expert(s) assigned to the project.

Will I know who will be translating my materials?
All our translators are well qualified. To join our global team, they either have acquired degrees in translation, or are experienced in the field and belong to professional bodies. We make use of in-country professionals who translate exclusively into their native language. We do not release the name of the specific translator, but be assured that our project manager will assign your project to someone who not only has the necessary linguistic qualifications and experience, but is also familiar with your industry and the subject matter. How do I know that my material will be kept confidential?
Please refer to our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into our service contracts with clients. All Global's translators are bound by service agreements with confidentiality and privacy clauses that apply indefinitely, even after the assignment is completed.

What languages can you translate?
Our global team of translators can handle many different languages. Our special expertise lies in English to other languages and vice versa. Our Instant Quote facility lists some of the most popular languages that we handle.

What kinds of formats do you support?
We support all current industry standard authoring and design application software on Macintosh and PC, as well as commonly used website computing languages. Please see Formats for a full list. We can return translated work in the format of the source document as well as formats to facilitate online and off-line publishing.

What are your rates for translation services?
We do not have a published rate table since there are many variables that contribute to a translation project's cost. The primary factors are source and target languages, word count, specialty content and delivery time. We also need to review the specific document to determine its degree of difficulty and complexity, as well as the work involved to meet other requirements such as website localization. We can assure you that our prices are competitive and that you will find our services a good value for the money. For a ballpark estimate, try our Instant quote facility. We have a minimum charge of C$98 per project. How do I track the progress of my project?
At the beginning of the project, we provide you with a planned schedule with estimated timelines for each phase of the project. We also plan to release soon an online facility for our clients to track progress of specific project(s).

What happens if my source document contains spelling and grammatical mistakes, inconsistencies in use of terminology, logical errors, unclear messages or other linguistic issues that may affect the quality of the document?
If we notice any of these problems, you will be notified and given the option to do the following:
1) If the problem is minor, you or your assigned person can correct the source document and send it over for the balance of the procedures.
2) If you don't have anyone to correct it, we can assign someone to do so at your expense. Cost will be provided for your consideration beforehand.

When do I pay?
Upon your approval of the service contract, we request a deposit of 50% before we start work. For larger projects that involve more than 15 working days, we require an additional payment of 25% upon completion of half the project. An interim draft will be submitted to you for review upon receipt of payment. When the translation project is complete, we'll deliver the finished product upon receipt of the balance of payment.

What methods of payment do you accept?
We accept direct bank deposit and Paypal. Please refer to Order and Payment for details.

What happens if I want changes to my project after work has started?
We encourage you to finalize requirements before assigning the project to us. If you do require changes, please contact your project manager as soon as possible to discuss necessary changes. These subsequent changes may incur additional charges.
